Black and White Angler Fish (Champs Flame-Off 1st Place Winner 2010) by Buck Glass
Black and White Angler Fish (Champs Flame-Off 1st Place Winner 2010) by Buck Glass
This black and white angler fish made by Buck Glass was the 1st place winner at the annual CHAMPS Flame-Off of 2010. To be honest, the black is more of a plumb color when hit by the sunlight, something we all noticed when it was placed in one of the storefront gallery cases. The bubbler fits like a glove with the user's pointer finger covering the carb in the front and their thumb wrapping around the back of the bubbler bulb. The functionality of this piece is just as astounding as its aesthetics. Smoke flows down from the push bowl into a natural up-line, separates through a donut, and on up to the mouthpiece located at the tip of the tail. Two mesmerizing disc reversals, fastened on either side of the intricate networking, make up the eyes of the fish. Six encased opals glamorize different bridges throughout the piece. The rarity of this particular angler is that it is only one of two in this particular color scheme made back in 2010. This piece can be seen in person at Illuzion Glass Galleries in Denver, CO
